DANCES OF BOYS AS GIRLS AND VICE VERSA: In Sikkim there are not many folk
dances in which boys perform dressed as girls or girls perform dressed as boys,
but the tradition of female or male impersonation, especially in traditional
theatre forms is custom. In almost all the theatrical forms boys play the female
roles or girls play the boys roles even today. In fact the girls are better in
dancing than the boys. In many theatrical dances, the girls dress as boys and
dance as the boys.
