Lhabab Duchen
|
|
|
Lhabab Duechen, a festival celebrated by Buddhist residing in
Sikkim falls in the nineth month of the Tibetan calendar which is in the month of
October-November. This festival is celebrated in memory of the sacred and auspicious
day on which Lord Buddha came on this earth after having preached his idealism in
heaven. |

|
|
All lamas, on this day, go through their holy scriptures, offer lights and pray
Lord Buddha throughout the day. This day, which is also celebrated by common people
with enthusiasm and veneration, is a day of Govt. holiday.

Kagyed Dance
|
|
|
|
Kagyed dance, a customary dance festival, celebrated annually
in Sikkim falls on the 28th and 29th day of the tenth month according to Tibetan
calendar, which according to English calendar falls in the month of December. In
the name of eight tantrik Gods and Goddesses commonly called Kagyed, lamas on these
days perform dances and sing songs in different gumpas and offer pujas to them requesting
these deities to save human beings from the tormenting evil spirits and to bless
them for good health and fortune.
